Reader Ride. Georgous Kawasaki Z1 Restoration.

Mike sends in these beautiful restoration shots of his well traveled Z1.
He Writes:

Hi,
Thought I’d send pics of my old baby for your blog …

Brought the bike over with me from the UK. Finally decided to do a complete restore thinking it’d cost about $3k … $10k+ later … couldn’t ride it because she was so very pretty.
Sold it after 500 miles but will forever cherish the personal challenge. Screws were self cleaned and re-plated or re-chromed like stock. All parts powder coated. Engine black coat was baked on in my kitchen oven (yes, I was single!). Basically went through what we all go through when it comes to our toys.
Cheers
Michael

Fantastic Work! Don't know how you could let a beauty like that go. Thanks Much!

ASMG - (Another Stunning Moto Guzzi )

A Sweet Matchless.

I've always liked these bikes. Very muscular looking.

Reader Ride. Hillside Honda.

Louis Austen send in these scenic shots...

Reader Ride. Excellent 1965 CA77 Honda Dream!

Thank you to John Holliday, Jr. of Gulfport, MS.

Reader Ride! Kawasaki Zephyr 550. One of my Favorites!

I've always had a soft spot for the Kawasaki Zephyr line of bikes. A very refined version of the original Z and KZ line.

Zach Brandt writes in:

Hi, been a fan of your page for the last couple of months. Thought I'd send in a few pics of my Zephyr 550 project bike. Started out as a homely old craigslist find that I learned to ride on. Project originally intended to just be a fork rebuild and new chain then tuned out to what you see here. I had a lot fun picking everything out, but I could have never anticipated the amount of admiration this little thing gets. Keep up the good work on your page!

Thanks Zach!

The before Pic!

Speedway!

I admit that I don't know much at all about these bikes or this class of racing. I think it a wicked little number though. It's like featherweight Industrial Art. Go to the end and turn left! And it's FOR SALE!

Long Lean and Lonely Italian Girl Looking for a Soulmate.

I love this bike and I might include it on my "midlife crisis - must own" list except that when I sat on it the handlebars were so far away that I could barely see them. This bike is a serious reach. Probably worth the pain though just for the pleasure of looking at it.

Interesting Triumph.

Classic Sprotbikes (inside joke)! A Nice Pair Of Honda Interceptors.

H1 500 and RD400. Two of my all time favorites!

A Surprising BMW F650.

I never realized these boring old clinical thumpers could look this good!

Grand Canyon Wanderlust.

MV Agusta 750S Dream Machine.

Found this over on ADV rider.

More workshops that don't suck...

Willy Gonnason Sends in this very well stocked garage (even if it was only temporary). He writes in:

I love your site! It's the first one on my daily morning reading list!

Unfortunately I don't have the finances to maintain a decent garage -
it's always been way too small and underpopulated...

However, it doesn't look totally barren all the time. Here's a couple
of pics with a few bikes (some are friend's bikes) before one of the AMA
races back in 2005. This was the last AMA race held at Pikes Peak
Raceway before it was closed down, although we didn't know it at the
time.

There's Suzuki, Ducati, Yamaha and Honda represented here, and a couple
of classics to boot...

Regards,

Willy G.

Another Motard.Ducati

It's amazing the mental gymnastics that I play trying to convince myself that owning one of these would be a good idea... sigh...

Workshops that don't suck....

I think I'm going to start another theme here at MPOTD and call it  "Workshops that don't suck".  This is a slight variation on the "Dream Workshops" that you run across from time to time.  There's a LOT of really cool shops, sheds, and garages out there that aren't necessarily in the "dream" category.... errrr. although this one definately WOULD fall in that area,  So!  On top of all cool bikes and "Wanderlust" pics, if you've got a cooler than average shop, shed, garage, barn, or even if you like to wrench in your living room... if you think it's interesting send it in!

Here's a really interesting little spot I found over in a thread at ADV rider...  I mean WOW!

Because you guys never seem to get tired of Cafe BMW's..

Reader Ride. Probably THE Nicest Custom GS1000S On The Planet.

Shannon Hayes Writes in.

Here are some pics of my GS1000S project bike, The guys at Yoshimura put it on there web site under fan photos, so I was thinking you guys might like to see it? I put it together from a 1979 GS1000 and lots of bits from my friends atSteel's Cycle Salvage, the forks, swingarm, wheels, and brakes came from a GSF1200, and oil cooler, levers, and foot pegs from a GSX-R 750. The motorand amazing carb conversion was done buy Eddie at Sisneros Speed Works, the carbs are from a late model FZ1 and the motor has a Wiseco big bore kit. The paint and body work was done by DJ at Str8 Customs. I did the extensive fabrication work myself, but with out my friends It would not have been possible. I hope you guys enjoy the pics and story.

That's just... damm.. I'm just speechless.  Thanks VERY much for the pics including yesterdays CB750 Cafe and tomorrow's X-Strom
